Bangkok – A poll found that People’s Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut has defeated Pheu Thai leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the first choice for prime minister.
In its fourth-quarter support poll of major politicians and parties, the National Institute for Development Management's Nida Poll found Natthaphong at 29.85 percent, followed by Paetongtarn at 28.80 percent.
The survey was conducted among 2,000 residents nationwide over the age of 18. It takes place from December 19th to 24th.
In its third quarter survey, Nida Poll found Paetongtarn's approval rating at 31.35%, while Natthaphong's was at 23.50%.
When asked who they would support as Prime Minister if an election were held now, respondents replied:
- 29.85%: Natapong
- 28.80%: Bai Dongdan
- 14.40%: No suitable choice
- 10.25%: Pirapan Salirathavibhag, leader of the Unity Party of Thailand
- 6.45%: Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of Bhumjaithai Party
When asked which party they would vote for if an election were held now, respondents replied:
- 37.30%: People’s Party
- 27.70%: Pheu Thai Party
- 10.60%: Thai Unionist Party
- 8.20%: No suitable choice
- 5.15%: Bhumjaithai Party
