Forté Hospital in New Zealand expands new operating room

Date:

This has increased its surgical capacity by 25%, enabling an additional 1,800 surgeries per year.

Forté Hospital in New Zealand has announced the opening of Theater Five, its newest operating theatre.

The expansion increases the hospital's surgical capacity by 25%, enabling an additional 1,800 surgeries per year.

The facility also employs six additional surgeons from various specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, urology and otolaryngology.

Meanwhile, Forté Health chief executive Michael Woodhouse said while the increased capacity in Canterbury would help ease pressure on the public sector, the case for expansion did not rely on the ongoing public funding case for the new theatre.

“Although our fifth theater opens today, we will soon be full again as demand for theater space and time is extremely high,” Woodhouse said.

“We are developing plans for additional investment in the Canterbury health sector to better support our growing population and increasingly complex healthcare needs,” the chief executive added.
