The Australian government has launched two dedicated neonatal search units designed to provide intensive care for infants in Queensland.

The cost per unit is approximately $220,000 ($350,000), developed through a collaboration between Queensland pediatric search experts and aerospace medical engineers.

These devices are compatible with a variety of search vehicles, including road ambulances, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.

“The baby is transferred to Queensland Children's Hospital or other major hospitals to treat a variety of diseases such as sepsis, heart problems or complex respiratory diseases,” the government said.
