Construction will begin in mid-2025.

The Australian state government of Tasmania has released concept designs for a US$12.8 million (A$20 million) hospice in Launceston.

The new hospice will be located in the Allambi Building on Howick Street and will provide at least 10 beds for patients with life-limiting conditions, as well as support for their families and carers.

Health Minister Jacquie Petrusma said the proposed facility was designed to replicate a home-like environment.

“The design promotes the dignity, circulation and connectivity of the existing gardens and courtyards that are unique to the Arabi site,” Petrusma said.

Construction will begin in mid-2025, with the hospice expected to be completed and open to patients by the end of 2026.
