The trial has started at the Royal North Shore Hospital.
The New South Wales (NSW) government in Australia has begun a 12-month trial of body-worn cameras for security staff at the Royal North Shore Hospital.
If an attack or violence occurs and there is a risk of harm, security will activate the cameras. The trial will determine how effective the technology is at preventing and mitigating the escalation of incidents.
The trial will be independently evaluated upon completion to determine its impact on hospital safety and inform future decisions on wider implementation.
Once launched, the trial will expand to a total of 15 hospitals in Sydney, Central Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, Mid North Coast, New England, northern NSW and western NSW.
