Bags of broccoli florets sold at Walmart stores in 20 states are being recalled after random testing found that one sample of the product contained Listeria monocytogenes, according to a notice issued by the Food and Drug Administration earlier this week. .

The recall involves 12-ounce bags of wash-and-eat Marketside Broccoli Florets sourced from Braga Fresh in Soledad, Calif., and sold in more than 1,000 Walmart stores in the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California , Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming (See here for a list of store locations.)

“The Texas Department of Health and Human Services discovered potential contamination during random sampling at a Texas store, where one of multiple samples tested positive,” Braga said in the recall notice.

Possibly contaminated broccoli is past its best before date (December 10, 2024). use.

No illnesses have been reported related to the recalled products.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young, frail, or older people, as well as miscarriages and stillbirths. Short-term symptoms in otherwise healthy people may include fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The recalled product comes in a bag with UPC code 6 81131 32884 5 on the back and lot number BFFG327A6 on the front.
