Bandai Spirits launches new initiative, Gundam table game called Gundam assembly Announced.
The game will feature 5cm-tall miniatures that players can build and paint themselves, then play with them through tabletop games.
The included mechas will be spread throughout Gundam The pantheon, is not limited to one series or timeline.
The setting of the miniatures is somewhat similar to how Gunpla works, which is a nice touch, but I'm skeptical of the overall effect.
Most major desktop properties use a single background frame. this Gundam The saga is divided into several different and independent timelines.
When various Gundam Build Fighters The anime tries to do something across different timelines, they use redesigned versions of classic mecha designs and set the story in a coherent setting.
These appear to be the actual designs of each Gundam The series doesn't have a unified lore to make everything work together.
kind of like how Gundam Evolution There's a very top-down corporate approach to how mechs work and sort of ignores their respective settings, which doesn't work well for the game in the long run.
I know Bandai Namco is trying to diversify Gundam brand, but its approach is very generic and uninformed.
If anything this will lead to, it's that the buildable miniatures can serve as a gateway to building larger, more complex Gundam models. However, as a tabletop gaming company, I'm certainly cautious.
