The Find My Nurse Tool will include information about professional cancer nurses.
The Australian government plans to invest US$1.4 million (A$2.3 million) in the McGrath Foundation over the next two years to expand its Find My Nurse online tool, which connects patients with cancer nurses.
Health and Aged Care Minister Mark Butler said the tool will include information on all specialist nurses employed in hospitals, community services and the wider cancer sector, including Commonwealth funded nurses and other McGrath cancer care nurses.
“This expanded tool will be extremely valuable to cancer patients and their families and will be located at mcgrathfoundation.com.au,” Butler added.
At the same time, the foundation is also working with the cancer department to develop new McGrath care models.
The program is designed to support patients at all stages of cancer treatment.
