Thai Prime Minister Bai Dongtan denies former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's influence on the government

Bangkok – Despite her father’s repeated comments about the current government, Prime Minister Padontan Shinawatra Reaffirming that her government is not influenced by anyone.

Paetongtarn told reporters after Tuesday's weekly cabinet meeting that the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra Has no influence on her government.

The charge was highlighted recently when Thaksin, considered the leader of the ruling Pheu Thai party, publicly disclosed the policies before they were officially announced by the current government.

The former prime minister has also been accused of throwing shade at his daughter, claiming there were similarities between his ideas and government policies.

Paetongtarn explained that Thaksin knew certain things because “we are the same family” and it was normal for them to have conversations about such issues.

“I am his daughter, not his rival. I grew up in a family where he was the leader. If we can apply what he said, that's a good thing. I think everything is a useful source of information,” she said.
