Manila – Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating fell by 10 percentage points, while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s trust rating also declined slightly, Octa Research said on Tuesday.
The investigation was conducted from November 10 to 16 last year, when questions about confidential funds in Vice President Duterte's office made headlines.
Octa's fourth-quarter 2024 Tugon ng Masa national survey showed Duterte's trust rating dropped to 49%, down 10 percentage points from 59% in the previous quarter.
Likewise, her performance rating fell to 48% from 52% last season.
“This marks the first time the vice president's trust and performance ratings have fallen below the majority threshold,” Okta said in a statement.
Octa said the figures were Duterte's lowest approval ratings since December 2023 and reflected “an ongoing downward trend.”
Marcos, on the other hand, has trust and performance ratings of 65% and 64% respectively.
However, Marcos' trust dropped slightly by 4 percentage points from the previous quarter's 69%.
His performance rating also dropped two percentage points from last season's 66%.
Okta further said: “The majority of Filipinos still trust President Marcos Jr. and are satisfied with his performance.”
Nonetheless, Octa noted that Marcos Jr.'s trust levels have steadily declined since the second season in 2024.
Marcos and Duterte, who are running mates in the 2022 elections, have been locked in a worsening conflict after the latter resigned as education secretary from the cabinet in June.
The feud has escalated since then, with Duterte recently admitting she might instruct someone to kill Marcos, his wife Lisa and cousin Romualdes if they were killed.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Martin Romualdez has a trust rating of 58%, as does Senate President Francis Escudero.
Okta noted that Romualz and Escudero “continue to enjoy the trust and performance ratings of the majority of adult Filipinos.”
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo received 10% confidence.
Octa interviewed 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 and over.
