It is expected that the compound annual growth rate will reach 7.22% by 2028.

The global heparin market is expected to grow by $3.34b by 2028, driven by rising prevalence of coagulation disorders and rising R&D activities and new therapeutic applications.

A report by Technavio shows that the industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.22% during the forecast period.

“Unfractionated heparin and plasma-derived therapies from animal sources such as cattle and pigs are both popular,” it said.

Furthermore, the market is driven by the development of heparin formulations, especially graded and low molecular weight variants for thrombus management.

Key patient groups include the elderly, accident victims and patients with chronic diseases. Increases in orthopedic disease and surgical procedures have also stimulated the use of heparin.
