Delhi has never seen such violence during polls: Ex-PM Kejriwal 'attacked' on him

Date:

New Delhi – A day after his vehicle was allegedly attacked while campaigning in New Delhi’s parliamentary constituency, Arvind Kejriwal said there had never been an incident of violence in the city during polls where the former prime minister’s life could have been threatened.

Addressing a press conference here, the AAP national convenor said, “The people of Delhi have never witnessed the murder of a former chief minister during the election campaign.

“This is how they campaigned because they lost miserably,” he added, apparently referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party, whose workers he and his party blamed for the attack.

Kejriwal dismissed predictions by BJP candidate Parvesh Verma that he would lose the Delhi seat by 20,000 votes, saying, “Let him live in his dream for a few days.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atish claimed at a separate joint press conference with party MP Sanjay Singh that one of the people involved in the attack on Kejriwal was a member of the BJP candidate Verma. “Often accomplices”, he faced off against Kejriwal in the assembly elections.

Atish claimed that the attacker, named Rahul, had multiple criminal cases, including charges of robbery and attempted murder. This man was sent along with others to attack Kejriwal and was often seen with Verma during the campaign.

“The people who attacked Arvind Kejriwal and hurled stones at his car are serious criminals and a case has been registered against them. The BJP cannot defeat Kejriwal in the elections and is therefore resorting to this strategy to Remove him from their paths,” the chief minister claimed.

Another party leader, Sanjay Singh, also expressed similar concerns, accusing the BJP of orchestrating the attack as part of a larger conspiracy. He claimed that the BJP was desperate to return to power after 25 years and was resorting to violence and intimidation to combat AAP's support.
