Dhaka – Workers at a clothing factory blocked part of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur, demanding a two-month owed.
This creates long tails on both sides of the highway, causing pain for both passengers and drivers.
Workers of Self-Innovation Fashion Co., Ltd. blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Hariken Thana, the Metropolitan Ghazpur Metropolitan Ghazpur at 9:15 pm.
Ismail Hossain, deputy inspector of Industrial Police, said workers complained that they had not received their salaries for the past two months.
Despite repeated requests from the factory authorities, no solution has been found.
Upon receiving the information, industrial police and local government officials arrived at the scene and began discussions with workers.
Ziaur Kabir Khokon, president of the Gazpur Centre for Clothing Workers Union, said: “In the Gazpur Haliken area, hundreds of workers from a ready-made clothing factory took to the streets and demanded outstanding salaries.
“I think it should be arranged to pay the salary as soon as possible.”
