Funds will support infrastructure expansion and purchase of new medical equipment.
Australia has allocated nearly $1.3 million (a $2 million) to six general practices in Tasmania to improve access and ensure long-term sustainability of rural and regional clinics.
The funding will support a variety of projects, such as expanding the practice infrastructure to meet the growth of patient needs, including the addition of new consultation rooms and short-term accommodation for Locum staff.
Other initiatives include the purchase of new ICT and medical equipment, employee training and development, and the establishment of a new satellite universal clinic in Bushy Park.
Funding recipients include Beaconsfield Home Medical Practice, Deloraine & Westbury Medical Center, Derwent Valley Medical Center, Patrick Street Clinic, Prospect Medical Complex and George Town Medical Center.
