Dhaka – Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus said today that the national election can be held in December.
When Yunus attended the interactive plenary meeting at the 2025 World Government Summit, he suggested that the elections would be held as soon as possible, “probably December this year.”
CNN's Becky Anderson chaired the meeting at the WGS conference venue. Yunus is currently visiting the United Arab Emirates to attend the summit.
Yunus responded to the question and said some of the priorities of the Provisional Government include ensuring law and order and rebuilding the state, society and institutions, he said, in the previous authoritarian government of Sheikh Hasina. Next, this completely failed.
To rebuild the country, the government is underway for reform. He said it has established 15 different reform commissions, focusing on law and order, police management, the constitution, electoral system and other areas.
“These committees reported the necessary changes to their suggestions and suggestions. Now, we have the so-called consensus building committee. We will go to the political parties and so on and see which suggestions agree,” he said.
Yunus added: “That way we take it as a charter and then implement important elections.”
