Manila – Former President Rodrigo Duterte's statement that Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin responded to Duterte's announcement at a rally in Manda City, Cebu on Saturday.
Bersamin described the former president's remarks as “another Budo (scam) that appeared in another single-player fake new factory.”
“We treat the former president's unfounded and ridiculous remarks in a way that Filipinos disdain: a tall man's story, a person who is prone to lie and invent scams,” Bellsumim said in a statement.
He added: “As our actions have always proven, we will abide by the Constitution in respecting the rule of law and respecting the rights of the people.”
He also stressed that the current government will not “get into the oppressive way of the previous one.”
“It is those troubled past leaders who portray us as turning toward an institution toward a person without due legal proceedings, anyone can be deprived of life, freedom and property, because many are simply in his tyrant It was said that the rights of the people were disrespectful.” He added.
This is not the first time Duterte has talked about Marcos' term extension.
On April 15 last year, the former president warned that Marcos should be content with his tenure in six years.
At that time, Duterte announced opposition to the government's ongoing charter changes during a rally in Davao del Norte.
