Bangkok – Thaksin, who faces charges under Section 112 of the Criminal Code (LESE-MAJESTE LAW), filed his request on Thursday (March 6) in the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road. If the court approves his request, he will be required to sign bail and comply with legal proceedings before travel.
However, after the hearing, the court ruled at 3 p.m. that there was no sufficient reason to allow Taksin to leave the country.
In January, the court approved him to allow him to go to Malaysia for a meeting, demanding a bail deposit of 5 million baht and promised to report within three days.
In February, he was allowed to attend the ASEAN meeting in Brunei from February 18 to 199, but was denied access to Vietnam and Cambodia.
Thaksin has been appointed informal adviser to Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in preparation for Malaysia's ASEAN president in Malaysia in 2025. The announcement announced at a press conference in Putrajaya on December 16, 2024 that the throne of Thai Prime Minister Paetengtarn Shinawatra Shinawatra joined Anwar, where Anwar was joined.
Anwar said Thaksin’s extensive experience as a politician will provide valuable insights into things related to ASEAN.
Although his past exiles and legal challenges remained a key politician, he returned to Thailand after many years abroad. His appointment as an advisor is seen as a strategic move, especially when addressing complex regional issues such as the ongoing Myanmar crisis, which remains a key challenge for ASEAN.
