Seoul – South Korea's main opposition Democrats re-threatened to impeachment by the court after President Yoon Suk Yeol was released in detention center and strengthened anti-Yoon protests around Seoul.
Democrats transferred their attack to the country's prosecution service on Sunday because they did not file a court decision to revoke the meta-detention, threatening to impeach each prosecutor Shim Woo-jung- and possibly acting President Choi Sang-Mok.
After the entire Democratic meeting was held on Sunday, Rep. Park Chan-dae, the party’s floor leader, said Sim “needs to resign immediately” as prosecuting the service minister or being forcibly removed through impeachment.
Parker said the attorney general had ignored his duties by failing to “correct the court’s abuse of the law”. “Shim should immediately file the charge when the court refuses to expand the dollar's detention,” he said.
The Democratic floor leader added: “If the prosecutor refuses to resign voluntarily, the Democratic Party will impeach him.”
The Democrats are also considering whether to file an impeachment motion against Acting President Choi, the second acting president, resigned after being suspended for his armed martial arts declaration last December.
The Democrats also said it would file criminal charges against the attorney general, but did not specify what charges would be filed.
On the second day on Sunday, Democratic leadership asked its 170 lawmakers to ride on the streets in central Seoul, urging the Constitutional Court to quickly make a judgment on Yoon's impeachment.
“The Democratic Party will operate in emergency mode until the Constitutional Court final judgment,” Park said Democratic lawmakers will join the pro-department rally and stay in standby for possible emergencies.
The ruling BJP slammed Democrats on Sunday as weapons would impeach and the judiciary put pressure on them to make decisions that fit the party's political agenda.
Rep. Kweon Seong-dong, the head of the People's Powers floor, said at a press conference that the Democrats “developed the habit of impulse” senior officials involved their latest threat to the attorney general. He added that the Democrats are also launching a “pressure campaign” against the Constitutional Court.
Kweon argued Yoon's arrest and detention were “illegal from the beginning” because the corrupt official's Office of Corruption Investigation, in his opinion, the official filed a warrant for the court, and as a result, he believed the president was accused of investigating the uprising.
