The leak occurs during an ophthalmic surgery.
The Hong Kong Ministry of Health is looking for water seepage incidents in an operating room at Cuhk Medical Center.
Although the incident does not belong to a reportable event outlined in the Code of Practice of Private Hospitals, the agency has requested the facility to submit an investigation report.
The department will review the findings of the investigation and the corrective measures taken by the hospital.
In addition, appropriate follow-up actions will be taken to prevent similar incidents and ensure patient safety.
The incident occurred during an ophthalmic surgery, with water dripping from the ceiling near the end of the workbench towards the conclusion of the surgery.
After the incident, the hospital suspended the use of the affected operating room and determined the source of the seepage. The repair work has been carried out.
“The surgery was done stably. The patient was in a stable condition and there were no reports of any complications,” the department said.
