Price increase in games on Switch 2 may come from publishers

Date:

Since the Switch 2 revelation, many have commented on the price increase in games on the system. The reality is that this may come from the publisher.

While some have clearly pointed out inflation and indicated that the price of older Nintendo systems is equivalent to this price increase, the reality is that these games have a considerable increase in costs relative to the first switch.

But Nintendo's guidance on driving this growth isn't really accurate. Especially when the reasons that drive most of the pricing for platform holders come from third-party publishers.

The success of any gaming platform ultimately comes from the support of third-party publishers. Many of these publishers then have a great say in the pricing policies on the above-mentioned platforms.

Since the Switch 2 is the first wave of the next console, Nintendo’s mission is to start price increases based on what its third-party partners might want.

The reason publishers do this is very simple: Over the past decade, most publishers around the world have caused catastrophic losses. Continuous layoffs are the biggest and most obvious symptom of this situation.

However, these publishers need to start making money quickly, so in theory, the price increase on new platforms will make them urgently need cash injections now.

The fact that Nintendo is going all out is another feature of publishers, often hiding their decisions in the public eye, such as having Nintendo announce prices rise. Despite this, I still feel Nintendo's hand tied to this one.

Unfortunately, as plagued by the poor decision-making results of publisher administrators, gamers will be hit hard.

Apart from the rising price of games, sadly they cannot help all of these developers lose their institutional knowledge by layoffs.

While it can stabilize the publisher's financial situation, it still requires the beating of the game to recover. Just because there are no financially healthy game developers, the future of games is a medium and industry.
