Continuing economic instability remains a key limitation.
Turkiye's healthcare spending is expected to be 133.7B (TRY5.08B) at a CAGR of 24.2% by 2029, according to BMI.
However, due to the continued depreciation of Lira, health spending is expected to grow at 6.8% annually, reaching $52.4B over the same forecast period.
Ongoing economic instability and weaknesses in external financing remain the main constraints, potentially limiting funding for healthcare programs and delaying program infrastructure and services upgrades.
“The recent political instability, especially after the arrest of the mayor of Istanbul and the candidate for the opposition candidate for Ekrem İmamoğlu in the 2028 presidential election, has further complicated the situation,” the report said.
Meanwhile, reforms in medical tourism regulations are expected to support long-term improvements, as Turkiye attracted about 1.5 million health tourists in 2024, with revenue of about $3B.
The government aims to increase this figure to 2.3 million medical visitors by 2028, with a target total revenue of $20B.
