Islamabad – Mufti Taqi Usmani, a well-known Islamic scholar, was a former judge in the Federalist Court, stressed on Thursday that he avoided violence and destructiveness while boycotting products in support of Palestine as Karachi police foiled another attack on the fast food chain.
Mufti Usmani's remarks come after several recent attacks on media from international fast food chains nationwide. Korangi Senior Police Department (SSP) Mohammed Tariq Nawaz told dawn.com Police resorted to police charges to disperse a mob that rushed into Kentucky’s international fast food chain Kentucky fried chicken (KFC).
He said about 40-60 people rushed into the KFC store in the Kolangi Industrial Zone and tried to damage it, but police quickly took action and detained 10 suspects while others fled.
SSP Nawaz tells dawn.com More police were deployed to ensure the safety of the exit. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar praised the police for his performance, thwarting the wronged attempt to damage the restaurant by arresting 10 suspects, according to a statement.
KFC is not included in the list of boycotts for the global boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign. The BDS movement is essentially a non-violent movement that calls for boycotting companies to “complice in Palestinian oppression.”
At the Palestinian Conference in Islamabad today, Mufti Usmani bombed Israel’s actions in a devastating military shock in the Gaza Strip and supported boycotting products to express solidarity with Palestine.
However, the scholar emphasized: “Islam is a balanced religion. It is not a destructive religion. [property] Or hurt someone just by taking away emotions.
“So, it is forbidden to smash stones or damage someone's life and property in Sharia. Therefore, protest and boycott, but there should be no element of unrest.”
He said the rulers of the country should also convince them of their responsibilities and obligations in a peaceful manner.
“Those who are ready to fight the Muslim government and adopt the weapon of this name [of boycott] We have made this clear. No matter what you are going to do, it should be carried out in peace…the civil war began in the Muslim country. ”
Another vandalism incident occurred earlier today, according to a police statement, when eight suspects registered the case, who stroked the stones at a KFC exit store in Lalkana last night.
The statement added that the case was filed at the Darry Police Station, with the suspects being under Articles 6 (terrorism) and Article 7 (punishment of acts of terrorism (punishment of acts of terrorism), 1997, Section 148 (armed deadly weapons) 149 (armed weapons) 149 (invalid criminal members) (every person who committed the crime was convicted of an ordinary person at trial, injured), 341 (punishment of unlawful restrictions) and 353 (attack or criminal forces preventing civil servants from performing their duties).
“The suspect arrested by Dari police is being filed in the Anti-Terrorism Court,” the statement said. “In accordance with the instructions and orders issued by Lakarna Police Commander SSP Ahmed Chaudhry…the process of identifying other suspects through CCTV is in progress.”
The statement added that a search operation is under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Police Abdullah Afzal, who arrested the suspect.
The exit of a fast food chain was attacked on Wednesday at the National Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Lahore, when dozens of people shattered and damaged some parts of it with stones, broken window glass. Shortly after the incident, video footage surfaced on social media, showing the mob attacking the building in DHA Phase IV, which is known for the housing channels of different food chains.
In Sindh, Miscreants attacked a restaurant in Mirpurkhas and set fire on Tuesday night. In Karachi, Gardap City Police said more than 100 activists from a religious party tried to rob another fast food chain's channels on the M-9 highway Wednesday night, but police thwarted their plans. Officials said 20 suspects arrested in Mirpurkhas, while nine were arrested by police in the metropolis and filed separate cases for wrongdoing.
