Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital impacts healthcare through innovative neuropsychiatric approaches

Date:

It won the Indonesian category at the Best Specialty Hospital of the Year (Mental Illness) – Indonesian category at the Asia Awards Ceremony.

In recent years, mental health in Indonesia has become an increasingly important topic. The stigma and lack of understanding of mental health issues poses major challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression and other mental disorders.

The pandemic has seen a significant increase in the number of mental health disorders in Indonesia, especially among children, adolescents and elderly people.

As a leading hospital with expertise in mental health services, Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital focuses on the development of psychiatric care and spiritual science. Its vision is owned by the Indonesian Ministry of Health and is an international neuropsychiatric referral center in Asia.

To realize this vision, Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital has been committed to improving the quality of inpatient and outpatient services, including its psychiatric clinics, depression and bipolar clinics, anxiety clinics, addiction clinics and hypnosis therapy clinics. The hospital also provides electrophysiological interventions such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroshock therapy, and neurofeedback.

The hospital also focuses on vulnerable groups, namely the innovative daycare program, Kuas Biru. The initiative is specifically designed to target children with ADHD, autism and learning disabilities, and aims to maximize the use of treatment for people with limited treatment in the Covid-19 era.

The program focuses on children aged 10 to 18, including activities designed to improve cognition, emotion, behavior, sensorimotor, social communication, language, psychosocial and daily activities.

Children's visits to the Kuas Biru program increased by 32.5% from 2022 to 2023, totaling 807 patients.

Meanwhile, Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital offers Teratai, a service dedicated to geriatricians aged 60 and over. This concept of day care solves common problems faced by older people, such as boredom, loneliness, anxiety, lack of activity, family sensitivity to busy schedules, and health issues. The program later developed into a comprehensive service that combines outpatient, inpatient, daycare, and breathing care.

The program has seen a 55.3% increase in elderly patients, with 321 new patients from 2023 to 2024.

As services continue to evolve to meet the needs of the community, Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital remains committed to becoming a leading institution for mental health disorders in Indonesia, providing basic support for patients of all ages and contributing to improving the national mental health care system.
