Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital in 2025

Date:

It sets new standards in patient care, clinical outcomes and innovation.

The private hospital “Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital Suvarnabhumi” received a major acclaim from the 2025 Healthcare Asia Awards ceremony, which has achieved remarkable achievements over the past year, focusing on reducing environmental impacts, promoting sustainability, and changing patient safety and orthopedic care.

In 2024, the hospital made significant progress in energy management. It has a cooler factory management system (CPMS) installed to optimize power consumption, thereby reducing the energy consumption coefficient from 1.1 kW/ton to 0.9 kW/ton.

In addition, magnetic bearing coolers, known for their high energy efficiency, have been implemented in the hospital. These efforts resulted in annual savings of 536,112 kWh, and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 274,114 kilograms of carbon dioxide, which was equivalent to planting more than 30,000 trees.

General waste is incinerated to produce waste-derived fuel, while food waste is composted and used to feed animals. Recyclable waste is upgraded to new products such as furniture and paper. The system results in a 551,357 kilogram of carbon dioxide reduction in emissions in 2024, an environmental benefit of planting 61,000 trees.

Meanwhile, Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital has adopted a pioneering approach to waste management through its collaboration with SCGC, Baxter Healthcare and Dynoflex. They launched the first project in Thailand, which will be recycled into high-quality PVC tiles using dialysis solution bags. The project reuses 5,320 dialysis bags, produces 9,000 square meters of ceramic tiles, which were later installed in the hospital.

In addition, the staff uniforms made from recycled plastic bottles reinforce the hospital’s commitment to the principle of circular economy. The hospital also adopted initiatives like the “Health Waste” program where local residents can exchange recyclable waste for health checks and provide health education and screening for older people.

“It is committed to staying flexible, dynamic, and constantly seeking new opportunities to enhance its sustainability efforts. Its innovative strategies show how healthcare organizations can lead in patient care and environmental responsibility, positioning hospitals as a model for others in the industry,” the company said.

Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital Suvarnabhumi's success in combining health care excellence with environmental responsibility has made it a victory for the annual ESG program – Thailand.

Integrated clinical decision support system

The hospital’s Cardiac and Vascular Center has also launched an innovative patient safety program to enhance care for patients with ST-Eleavation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI).

It integrates STEMI's clinical practice guide (CPG) into the hospital's health information system using cutting-edge clinical decision support systems (CDSS) to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce human errors and ensure timely interventions, and align with the hospital's vision of becoming a smart hospital.

Prior to this, only 33.3% of STEMI patients received percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within a critical 90-minute window. Despite the opening of a new catheter laboratory, delays in diagnosis and treatment still resulted in suboptimal results.

CDSS provides real-time support to healthcare providers by providing diagnostic advice, generating treatment advice and tracking key care milestones targeting the setting benchmark. It marks critical time points, such as ensuring that ECG completion is completed within 10 minutes and PCI is initiated within 90 minutes to improve compliance with CPG and enable faster decision-making.

Due to the implementation of the patient safety program, the percentage of STEMI patients who received PCI within the recommended time was recommended to increase from 40% to 75% within 6 months. In addition, misdiagnosis and mortality rates in patients with STEMI decreased to 0%, showing a positive impact on clinical outcomes.

The program is striking due to the integration of state-of-the-art technologies into conventional clinical practice. CDSS is not only designed to support decision-making, but also has the flexibility to develop with advances in medical science, ensuring that it remains effective as healthcare practices and technologies develop.

Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital has won the program's annual patient safety program.

“It shows that integrating advanced technologies into clinical workflows can significantly improve patient safety and quality of care. The innovative program improves clinical outcomes and positions hospitals as leaders in healthcare innovation,” the company said.

Revolutionary orthopedic nursing excellence

Meanwhile, Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital Suvarnabhumi’s Prince of Bones exercise sets new standards in orthopedic patient care, and is recognized for its technological advances, improving clinical success rates and excellent patient satisfaction.

As part of the exercise, the hospital’s technological innovations include robot-assisted surgery, especially in joint replacement and spinal care, as well as a total displacement of cervical surgery.

It also implements state-of-the-art rehabilitation centers that integrate Eastern philosophy with Western technology. Key clinical achievements include improved success rates for complex surgery, a significant reduction in recovery time compared to traditional methods and zero surgical site infection rates.

The patient satisfaction rate reached an impressive 98%, marking high in treatment and service excellence.

This has led to several transformative innovations, including robot-assisted joint replacement surgery and a digital tracking system for monitoring patient recovery. The use of minimally invasive surgical approaches, such as arthroscopy for knee, shoulder, and spinal problems, also revolutionizes patient care by minimizing incisions, reducing recovery time, and increasing safety.

At the same time, the hospital has introduced a comprehensive sports medicine program and has worked with local sports organizations to prevent harm and promote healthy life.

The hospital’s success in handling complex cases and developing sports medicine programs has attracted a wider patient base, including international recommendations. This growth is further reflected in its growing orthopedic sector revenue and expanding international patient income.

Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital has been actively involved in community participation, providing free orthopedic consultation, conducting educational programs, and working with local sports organizations to prevent injuries. It also advances professional development through training programs and collaborations with the Expert Orthopedic Center.

To maintain its position as a leader in special orthopedic clinics, the Bone Prince campaign plans to expand research, telehealth services and specialized sub-specialty products.

Suvarnabhumi Princ Hospital has finally won the award for the Special Clinic of the Year in Thailand.
