Medethix Inc becomes the winner of the Hospital Partnership of the Year – the Philippines and the Most Differentiated Service of the Year – Philippines category on the 2025 Healthcare Asia Pharma Awards.
Both of these accolades are for its Medethix Master Class of Endometriosis (MEM), which pioneered hands-on training for Sonologists in the Philippines.
Endometriosis is a painful and often debilitating condition that can severely affect a woman’s quality of life and develop symptoms such as chronic pelvic pain and infertility. Unfortunately, studies show that women need an average of 6.5 years to receive a proper diagnosis, mainly because chronic pelvic pain is often considered dysmenorrhea (harrowing menstruation). Many women seek help only when the pain becomes unbearable or infertility becomes a problem.
Obstetricians and gynecologists in the Philippines are good at scanning pregnant patients, although there are still gaps in diagnosis and management of endometriosis, such as endometriosis. This knowledge gap is solved through MEM.
MEM is now in its third year, setting the standard for Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs. MEM, in collaboration with the Rizal Medical Center (RMC) of Ultrasound and Gynecology, provides an innovative approach to convey real-world learning directly to Sonologists. It incorporates actual patients into the program and ensures practical and practical training beyond traditional classroom learning.
Unlike other CME programs, MEM provides practical meetings in which ultrasounders learn through instructional speeches and actual patient cases. Representatives gain hands-on experience by diagnosing and managing patients, thereby enhancing their clinical skills and preparing for real life.
This unique program was led by Dr. Nelinda Catherine P. Pangilinan (ISUOG), renowned ultrasound scientist and president of the International Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology. The faculty also includes a respected consultant to the RMC Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and its ultrasound section in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. The team also enjoys a high reputation in the Philippines, supported by three former presidents of the Philippines’ Ultrasound Society and three former presidents of the Society of Gynecology (PSUOG).
Medethix hosts an intensive two-day CME program twice a year, in which 16 carefully selected doctor representatives and 16 patients are invited to attend. During the program, patients were diagnosed and treated for endometriosis, and representatives gained hands-on experience in diagnosing and managing the condition.
The program selects representatives from underserved areas across the country to ensure that the ultimate needy community receives medical services.
Medethix aims to expand its program to cover the entire PSUOG membership. By continuing to increase the Medethix Endometriosis Masterclass, more Filipino women will receive the care they need for endometriosis.
