Dexcom Malaysia received 2025 honors at the Asia Asia MedTech Awards Ceremony

Date:

The company's Trinity Vertical Links are praised for changing the manufacturing process with automatic vertical links and robotic arms.

Dexcom Malaysia received the Initiative Award – Malaysia received an example at the Healthcare Asia MedTech Awards 2025, which proves the example results that its Trinity Vertical Links offer.

The company uses automated vertical links and robotic arms to change product processing and greatly improve efficiency and productivity. The system has a vertical conveyor that transfers products from level 2 to level 1, and a robotic arm that picks up multiple units simultaneously. It covers a distance of 8 meters and can effectively reduce them to level 1.

The project hopes to bring automation into key areas of the company's manufacturing process. Expected results include lower operating costs, increased productivity and improved workplace ergonomics. To achieve these goals, Dexcom in Malaysia has developed a phased strategy starting with a pilot project to test the effectiveness of the system before it is fully implemented.

The system is powered by state-of-the-art robot arms and runs with excellent accuracy and speed. It handles repetitive and physically demanding tasks, an implementation that reduces the risk of human error and prevents workplace injuries.

This automation reduces manual labor, thus saving a lot of money on labor costs. It also runs 24/7 without fatigue and continues to produce about 8,000 units per hour, with faster cycle times. This enables the company to meet growing demand while maintaining high-quality standards.

Additionally, one of the challenges of transferring products between Level 2 (ISO 8 clean room) and Level 1 (controlled non-classified area) is manual handling of the tray and cleaning. Automation solutions eliminate the need for manual pallet cleaning. This change will result in a 1.5 million reduction in pallets that require manual cleaning each year, which reduces consumption of detergents such as IPA, thus contributing to more sustainable operation and positive environmental impacts.

In addition, automation systems are used in conjunction with fire alarm systems to ensure complete separation of facilities without sacrificing efficiency. In the event of a fire, the system will automatically isolate the affected parts.
This innovative automation system is a game changer for Dexcom manufacturing operations in Malaysia, improving higher efficiency, productivity and sustainability.
