The country accounts for 4% of the APAC market in 2024.
According to GlobalData, Australia's mammogram equipment market is expected to grow to 2034 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7%.
The report said Australia accounts for about 4% of the total Asia-Pacific market in 2024.
Medical device analyst Aditi Dakshesh Parikh said the resolution and efficiency of the imaging system are improving, but new diagnostic tools are now playing a key role in improving screening accuracy, especially for patients with mammogram-only, which may only fall off.
Such a tool is a new blood test for Bcalest diagnosis. The test uses liquid chromatography mass spectrometry to detect lipid markers associated with breast cancer and is designed for women with dense breast tissue, where mammograms are less reliable.
The test helps rule out cancer in low-risk patients, supports better use of imaging resources and reduces unnecessary follow-up.
Parikh said combining blood-based diagnosis with imaging helps provide more accurate and earlier detection of breast cancer, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
