How we ranked Asia's Scientists 100
Candidates were assessed across Research originality, Verified advance, Translation and use, Field influence and Scientific institution building. Reporting centred on work attributable to 2025, with earlier achievements used only to establish context. Editors reviewed the top tier and the cut line before publication. Advertising, sponsorship, wealth and visibility had no bearing on the order.
Research originality
FigureAsia examined the novelty and intellectual depth of the questions, methods or discoveries attributable to the scientist during the relevant body of work. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
Verified advance
FigureAsia examined the strength, reproducibility and field-level importance of the advance, with claims assessed conservatively against the documented record. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
Translation and use
FigureAsia examined the movement of knowledge into tools, treatment, infrastructure, policy capability or further research without overstating readiness or benefit. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
Field influence
FigureAsia examined the degree to which the work redirected inquiry, changed standards of practice or enabled other scientists to move faster and with greater precision. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
Scientific institution building
FigureAsia examined the creation of laboratories, teams, training systems and collaborative capacity that expanded what a field could reliably accomplish. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
Integrity and responsibility
FigureAsia examined research conduct, acknowledgement of uncertainty, responsible communication and care for the human or environmental consequences of scientific work. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
Asian and global contribution
FigureAsia examined the scientist's substantive Asian connection and the contribution of the work to knowledge networks and public value across borders. The 2025 assessment considered scale, durability, direct attribution and the conditions under which the outcome was achieved.
The line every candidate had to clear.
Reputation opened the file. It did not secure a place. Every name was tested against the same editorial standards before the ranking was set.
The candidate must have made a substantive, attributable scientific contribution through research, translation or scientific institution building relevant to the edition year.
Eligibility requires an Asian origin, identity, operating base or body of work of sufficient depth to make the candidate part of Asia's contemporary record; incidental market exposure is not enough.
Work and decisions attributable to 2025 determined eligibility. Earlier achievements supplied context, not position.
FigureAsia requires evidence of material contribution. Publicity, title, wealth, audience size, fundraising, office or reputation may inform context but never establishes eligibility or rank on its own.
Candidates must pass identity, factual coherence, integrity, rights and publication-risk review. FigureAsia may exclude, defer, correct or remove an entry where the record is materially incomplete, misleading or incompatible with responsible publication.
Editorial and rights standards
FigureAsia alone determines inclusion and position. This edition reflects the 2025 record; later events belong to a later list.
Editorial independence
FigureAsia alone determines inclusion and position. No listed person or organisation approved the ranking.
No pay-to-play
Payment, advertising, sponsorship and commercial relationships do not influence selection or position.
Dated reporting
Each edition reflects information available within its stated year. Later events may change the underlying record.
